About This Event

With much anticipation and excitement, we announce the date of The George Hieronymous Empty Bowl Project for Saturday, March 28th, 2026! The event will begin at 11:30 am and go until 1:30 pm. To be held at the Dena’ina Center in downtown Anchorage, the day will include unlimited soup and cornbread, the opportunity to take home a handcrafted bowl, a silent auction, live entertainment, kids’ activities, and so much more! This much-loved community event was first held in 1994, and Bean’s Cafe is proud to continue the tradition. We are honored to have the Anchorage Clay Arts Guild, the organization that brought this event to Anchorage, in attendance once again this year. During this special gathering, we raise awareness and funds to combat hunger and remind everyone of the empty bowls in our community and the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors: those experiencing hunger, food insecurity, and homelessness. The event symbolizes the importance of what one bowl of soup can mean to someone concerned that they will not have enough to eat that day.
