Clara Schumann not only played a central role in Robert Schumann's love, but also as his greatest musical advocate. After Robert's early death, her friendship with Johannes Brahms continued for many years thereafter and the nature of their relationship remains debated to this day. Brahms' strong feelings for Clara, however, are well documented, and this program explores the influence Clara had on these two romantics.
